This is the famous & desirable US Navy Standard Diving Knife used in conjunction with the Mark V diving helmet. During World War 2, several companies were contracted to make these knives. Many companies did not apply their name as it was not required. One such company that proudly applied its name was Union Cutlery! Union Cutlery, located in Olean, New York, is quite famous today for its high-quality knives. While famous for the knives made for the US Marines, Union Cutlery also produced a KA-BAR knife for divers – specifically the US Navy. The government contracts to make the KA-BAR for the Navy were apparently small, as few examples exist today. The combination of rarity and world-famous name make the Union Cutlery KA-Bar US Navy Standard Diving Knife a top piece to find with knife, diving, and WWII collectors.

This example retains the original heavy brass sheath. The base of the blade has the Union Cutlery on one side, KA-BAR on the other side clearly. The blade is in excellent condition with no notable issues. The blade is still sharp, and all the teeth are intact. The wood handle has a great patina. The brass sheath is in excellent condition. The knife does thread into the sheath just like it did in World War 2.

Please be aware that we will only ship the knife within the United States.
