Presented here is a unique diving helmet, likely originating from the Republic of Chile due to its distinctive design and construction. The helmet lacks any manufacturing marks or identification plate. Its three-window bonnet and breastplate configuration are characteristic of Chilean-made helmets. Furthermore, the bonnet is composed of multiple copper sections welded together in a technique known as castling or castellation, evident on its top surface. This construction method was employed in the United States until the early 20th century.
Visually the helmet currently has a classic appearance and is quite displayable. If you are inclined to finish this helmet out and make it your own, it’s a great starting point. The helmet does have port glass in all three locations. The diver's right port is pushed in slightly. The exhaust and air fittings are present on the back of the bonnet. Internally the air vents are intact. The bonnet and breastplate do thread correctly. There is no neck ring gasket.
Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity!
The display stand shown in the photos is available at a discounted price with the purchase of this helmet.
All helmets sold by Nations Attic Inc. will have a certificate of authenticity (COA). This COA will have a serial # on it that will match the # on a tamperproof holographic decal placed on the inside of the helmet. This level of security and long-term assurance of the helmet’s authenticity is unmatched in the industry and very important to us.
