We are thrilled to offer for sale this early 20th-century diving helmet crafted by Emil Carlsson. Manufactured in Stockholm, Sweden, these helmets are renowned for their distinctive four-bolt design and exceptionally deep ports. Production commenced around 1910, with these helmets seeing service in both World Wars.

The helmet's design incorporates four bolts that securely fasten it to a brass neck ring. A copper clamp would then seal the neck ring to the diver's suit. The air inlet, exhaust valve, and communication port are all conveniently located on the rear of the helmet. The deep windows provide maximum protection and visibility for the diver.

Beyond its intriguing visual design, this helmet boasts a captivating patina on the copper body and brass hardware. Internal air vents remain intact. Thick round glass is currently present within each port but not sealed into place. The substantial neck ring retains an original gasket, and all four bolts function correctly. One of the studs on the threaded faceplate is missing. Aside from minor signs of wear, the helmet body exhibits no significant dents or damage.

“This is the first Emil Carlsson helmet we have ever encountered! If you appreciate unique and rare diving helmets, this extraordinary piece warrants serious consideration!"
