Here is a special opportunity to own one of the most unique and interesting diving helmets made in the late 20th century! This is a French LAMA Casque Bulle or Bubble Helmet. It is estimated that only 50 to 100 of these helmets were made by Yves Le Masson starting sometime in the 1980s. The helmets were used by researchers, underwater cinematographers, COMEX, and even the French Navy.

While ingenious in design the sales never materialized, contributing to the sale of LAMA to AMP. The rights to make and sell the “bubble helmet” were then sold to Phil Nuytten, who made a limited number of the helmets under his company name in the early 2000s.

This example is one of the first originals made in France. The company ID tag is still very legible on the back. This helmet has seen some use but is still in excellent original condition. The black painted base or breastplate looks very nice. The transparent polycarbonate bubble top and bubble protector do have some surface scratches, but there are no cracks or breaks. Please review all the photos for additional details.

Today many collectors and divers have never seen an original Bubble Helmet in person. Their existence is nearly mythical outside of Europe. This is the first LAMA Bubble Helmet we have ever had the honor of handling. Don’t hesitate to add this special piece to your collection!
