This is a unique chance to own a seldom-seen Pearl diving helmet, often referred to as a "Pearler." This impressive example was crafted by TOA Diving Apparatus Company Ltd. in Minamisenji, Tokyo, Japan. TOA designated this helmet as the Model C in their catalogs.
 
Pearl divers favored a helmet style with slightly angled ports or windows and a more squared-off breastplate. These design elements contribute to the distinctive appearance of a Pearler helmet, as evident in this particular example.
 
The majority of these helmets were used nearly daily by divers over decades, rendering them unsafe or inoperable after strenuous use. It's exceptionally rare to find a helmet that was lightly used and preserved in its original, pristine condition, as is the case here.
 
The photographs showcase the incredible patina this helmet has developed over the years. The helmet is complete with its four straps, twelve wing nuts, original glass, exhaust, air fitting, communications fitting cap, threaded safety bolt, internal air vents, and TOA ID plate. The top of the bonnet exhibits a few minor dents, but none are severe or compromise the copper. It's important to note that the center front breastplate stud was previously broken. The stud has been silver-soldered, and the wing nut can be threaded on and off, though the stud is now solely functional for display purposes. The solder is not visible with the front strap in place.
 
Overall, this is one of the finest untouched original TOA Pearler helmets we've ever encountered.
