This is a highly sought-after U.S. Navy Mark V diving helmet manufactured by Diving Equipment & Salvage Company (DESCO) on June 6, 1944—D-Day. Its historical significance is undeniable.

The helmet has been professionally polished to a brilliant shine while preserving its original glass, stamps, and ID plate details. Though it bears the subtle marks of use, its gleaming copper and brass will impress everyone who sees it.

This D-Day DESCO helmet features matching serial numbers on both the inside neck rings and the brass ID plate. A unique characteristic of DESCO helmets is the placement of these numbers on the inside, unlike Morse and Schrader examples. Additionally, a U.S. Navy inspection stamp on the neck ring confirms its acceptance into inventory on that historic day.

The helmet includes all four brails, 12 wing nuts, window guards, original glass, air and communications fittings and caps, neck ring gasket, spitcock, and exhaust valves. Inside the bonnet, the internal air vents are intact, along with a newer Reproducer (speaker) wired to the comms elbow socket. The dumbbell safety latch chain and cotter pin are also present.

No other WW2 Mark V helmet is more historically significant than one dated 6-6-44. This artifact, with its minor imperfections from use, stands as a testament to the sacrifices made during World War II to preserve freedom.

The display stand shown in the photos is available at a discounted price with the purchase of this helmet.

All helmets sold by Nations Attic Inc. will have a certificate of authenticity (COA). This COA will have a serial # on it that will match the # on a tamperproof holographic decal placed on the inside of the helmet. This level of security and long-term assurance of the helmet’s authenticity is unmatched in the industry and very important to us.
