Offered here is a classic Morse Diving Equipment helmet with an unmistakable patina that is so desirable among many. This helmet was recently discovered in Southern California. The previous owner thought it was used for abalone harvesting. 
 
The helmet's configuration is that of a classic Morse, with the exception of the large non-removable faceplate. This large opening allowed the diver a great field of range when gathering underwater life. It also gives the helmet a unique appearance not often seen. 
 
The helmet serial #, 5981, is present on both neck rings and all four straps. There is only one wingnut present. The helmet threads together with ease. The original communications, air, and exhaust fittings are intact. A later spitcock valve was also installed. The typical working dents are present on the top of the bonnet, none are severe or penetrating the copper body. There is one air vent channel on the inside that is missing. The spring-loaded safety pin is intact and works correctly. 
 
The original lead Morse Diving Equipment ID plate is present but well worn. The serial number dates this helmet's production to directly after World War 2 – 1946-48 time range. This helmet has the look and feel of a well-taken-care-of tool that was put away after decades of use.
