This is an outstanding piece of US Navy Mark V divers equipment that has survived 100-plus years in this amazing condition. When the US Navy debuted the Mark V helmet in 1916, an equally heavy-duty communications system was needed.

AJ Morse & Son and A. Schrader’s Son supplied the Navy with a wooden box divers telephone system. This example was made by A. Schrader’s Son on March 6th, 1917. It is serial number TB431, the TB standing for telephone box.

The wood telephone box retains all the original brass external hardware. Shockingly, the inside contains a large amount of original telephone equipment and original wiring components in amazing condition! Rubble cords, cloth wire, and Bakelite hardware, all in immaculate condition. Without any exaggeration, this telephone box is a time capsule worthy of any collection or museum. The only thing it appears to be missing is the original battery.

Finding original military dive equipment from World War 1 is difficult. Finding an early Mark V divers communications box in this shape is truly rare.
