Miller Dunn in Miami, Florida manufactured three different kinds of shallow water diving helmets. Typically, every year we will handle at least one of each style of Divinhood as they were called. Putting together this trio of antique Miller Dunn helmets certainly creates an impressive display! Miller Dunn Divinhood’s originally featured lead weights bolted to the front and back of the helmet. The weights would say Miller Dunn as well as indicating front or back placement. With the exception of the Style 1, both the Style 2 and Style 3 Divinhoods are easy to display without a stand. We have made custom display stands for the Style 1 as shown in the photo at the far left above. If you are considering adding a Miller Dunn antique diving helmet to your collection or even have one for sale, give us a call at 1- 316-371-1828 or email us at helmets@nationsattic.com.
US Navy Mark V Diving Helmets Below are just a few examples of the famous US Navy Mark V diving helmets that we have sold to clients around the world. There were only four manufacturers of the Mark V, Morse, A. Schraders Son, Diving Equipment & Supply Co and Miller Dunn. Other than the ID plate, generally all Mark V helmets regardless of manufacturer will look the same. When the Mark V was made, they had what is called tinning applied to the copper body of the helmet. This tinning was gray in color. An excellent example is the 1951 DESCO Mark V shown below. From use and age the tinning would wear off. Many people over the years have polished these helmets.  If you are considering adding an antique Mark V to your collection, please join our email contact list. Please also feel free to give us a call at 1-316-371-1828 or email helmets@nationsattic.com. Unfortunately, there are lots of reproductions on the market!  You can be assured we only handle 100% authentic examples!

Mixed Gas Mark V Helmets There were a limited number of Mark V helmets made for extreme deep water usage.   These vintage helmets utilized a large brass canister on the back. The exhaust was also moved to the top of the helmet along with having a ring on the very top to help in moving the helmet and getting it on the diver. These mixed gas helmets are very heavy! We have handled a number of these over the years. If you have one or would like to add one to your collection, please let us know!
